Clifton Avenue

The picture gallery on this page shows a design and build project that I completed in 2015. The project involved remodeling and extending a bungalow to create a 40m2 side and rear extension comprising of a large open-plan kitchen-dining-living area. This fitted our need for extra living space and a desire to have the kitchen connected to the rest of the home.

The extension comprised a super-insulated timber structure meaning that it was quick to assemble and easy to keep warm. To ensure we did not have to endure high levels of volatile solvents in our home during construction, VOC free paints were used through out. We sourced paints that, as well as being VOC free, were also hard-wearing enough to withstand the challenges of a family kitchen and living areas.

To create a pleasant living environment and reduce lighting needs, the extension was designed with windows to maximise the sunlight and ensure it filled with natural daylight.

Energy efficient appliances and LED lights were used throughout the extension to reduce the maintenance and running costs of the home.

Removable panels were used as splash backs and as some wall-cladding for access to services and enable easy maintenance. These panels mean that adding or moving radiators, lights and power points is a simple process that only requires moving or replacing a few panels and no need for any plastering or painting.

This project fully illustrates Antevasin's philosophy of efficient, healthy, affordable, social and beautiful homes.
